A Special Notice about Permanent Markers

Did you know that using permanent markers the wrong way could have negative side effects?

The MAYO clinic warns that markers, if used incorrectly, could have the same effects as inhalants.  The Sharpie website states that "while Sharpie markers are AP-certified non-toxic, they do not recommend using sharpies on areas of items that may come in contact with food or the mouth."   (  https://www.sharpie.com/faq.html)

We are making sure that our teachers are aware of these dangers and are helping students understand how using materials inappropriately could have dangerous side effects.

Please explore this with your child and see the attached articles on inhalant use and abuse.  For more information, please review resources from the MAYO Clinic and Sharpie.
