Student Transportation
Arts Academy Charter Middle School works constantly to ensure our students have appropriate bus transportation to and from school each day.

Under Pennsylvania law, any local school district with a border within ten miles of AACMS must provide bus transportation for students who choose to attend a charter school.   Please reference the list below to determine if your local school district currently provides bus transportation to AACMS.

AACMS students residing in Monroe County or the Bangor area may choose to participate in low-cost bus transportation provided by special arrangement with Palmeri Transportation.  Areas served include the Bangor, Pocono Mountain, and Stroudsburg school districts.   Interested families should contact the AACMS Business Office for information.

Families who reside outside of one of the local school districts or regions listed below must provide transportation to and from AACMS each day.

Requesting Bus Transportation
Each local school district maintains its own forms and procedures for requesting bus transportation for students. Most local districts follow the general guidelines below. The AACMS Main Office can help with any specific questions or concerns. Please contact us for assistance.

The transportation request process must be completed each school year, even for students returning to AACMS. AACMS must receive a new transportation request by your local school district’s deadline in order to secure your child’s transportation for the next school year. There are no exceptions, as the local school district will NOT provide transportation without first receiving the proper paperwork.
Step 1: Complete a Transportation Form
AACMS distributes the appropriate Transportation Request Forms to returning fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students in early spring. Current Transportation Request Forms for each local school district are also available for download from this page.
Step 2 Provide Proof of Residency
Most local school districts require parents/guardians to provide at least one document proving residency in the district. The AACMS Main Office will advise on the proof of residency requirements for your local school district.
Moving? Please let us know!
Parents/guardians must complete a Moving Packet and provide new proof of residency anytime a student moves to a new address during his or her enrollment at AACMS. Completing this packet in a timely manner ensures our ability to provide transportation at your new address as seamlessly as possible.

We make every effort to coordinate student transportation as quickly as possible; however, this process varies between local school districts and may take several weeks. We cannot guarantee transportation immediately, including for students who enroll at AACMS during the summer months.
Transportation Procedures & Reminders
Notifying AACMS of Transportation Changes
Please notify the Main Office of any daily transportation changes no later than the morning prior to the change. This includes changing the mode of transportation (parent pickup or bus), giving permission for another person to provide transportation for your child, or scheduling an early pickup time.
Alternate Busing Requests
Under no circumstances will an AACMS student be permitted to ride a bus he/she is not assigned to ride, even within the same school district.
Scheduling an Early Student Pickup
For the safety or our students and convenience of our transportation providers, AACMS requires all early student pickups occur before 2:15pm on regular school days.
Inclement Weather
During inclement weather, AACMS parents and students should check their local school district’s closing or delay announcements and follow the district’s modified transportation schedule accordingly.
